Empathy is not a scoring system

Production context explains constraints and can give human weight to awkward passages. Explanation answers why; criticism must still ask whether the result works.

If admiration suppresses all criticism, creators lose specific feedback and audiences are asked to deny their own experience.

Criticism can keep proportion

One can identify problems in shots, pacing or promotion without attacking the makers, and recognise completion without pretending it meets an industrial feature standard.

Breaking judgment into concrete parts leaves a more useful record than a single label of masterpiece or disaster.
